LAND på Blå 6. juni

LAND spiller på Blå den 6. juni under Klubb Vriompeis som oppvarming for den sveitsiske lydkunstneren Dave Phillips.

Broken Stream er et nytt samarbeid mellom pianist Juans Diaz og gitarist Ole Øvstedal (Spirits of the Dead).

22.30: LAND

(Juan Diaz - piano, Tore Stavlund - gitar, elektronikk)

LAND er prosjektet til Juan Diaz og Tore Stavlund. Siden 2008 har LAND gitt ut to CD-R på SLMC, LAND og LAND II, som kan strømmes eller lastes ned på Archive.org. (http://www.archive.org/details/SLMC008), gjort en rekke konserter blant annet under Tekstallianse 2009 og som support for Radio 9. Musikken som kjennetegnes av Diaz' flytende melodiøsitet og Stavlunds preparerte teksturer har blitt beskrevet som mørk ambient.

23.15: Tore Stavlund Konkret

Gjennom soloprosjektet Konkret utforsker gitarist Tore Stavlund gitaristposisjonen og lytteakten. Ved å sette kjente musikkstykker inn i en ny sammenheng søker han å utheve og formidle kvaliteter i musikken han hører. På denne måten smelter lyttepraksis og utøverposisjon sammen. On friday 17. sept. LAND will support Keung Mandelbrot (UK) at Sound of Mu.

About Keung Mandelbrot:

MANDELBROT (UK)

2 hands, 6 strings, 18 pedals, and no overdubs. A massive pulsing noise that resonates between harmony and discord. Combining influences from David Pajo’s ‘Papa M’ project, to the density of Sunn O))’s bowel shaking sound, yet processed and shaped into the syntax and language of something altogether more electronic sounding.

Boomkat: ”...During the opening (title) cut especially, there are comparisons to be made between Mandelbrot’s scrappy, pedal-driven DSP action and early Fennesz recordings, often bringing to mind the glory days of Fennesz’s ‘Hotel Paral.lel’. Certainly at various points you’ll be struck by the early-days-of-Mego vibes emanating from your speakers – the fluctuation between surges of noise and more tranquilized drone passages works splendidly.”

The Milk Factory: ”...guitar drones, treated distorted guitars and ethereal string work. There are echoes of My Bloody Valentine, Mogwai and to a lesser extent, Godspeed You! Black Emperor in these pieces, but Mandelbrot’s work remains truly individual.”
